BIM-SE AL LAGO REFUGE - 1748 m

Morasco

Opened in 2009, the hiking refuge, managed by Francesca Valci and Davide Liuzza, is the ideal starting point for excursions of all levels. It offers 23 beds, with rooms featuring private bathrooms and accessible facilities for the disabled. The restaurant serves Piedmontese specialties, while amenities include equipment storage, a gym, and a children's play area. A perfect place to experience nature in comfort and tradition.

Nel cuore delle Alpi Lepontine, il Lago Vannino incanta con le sue acque di un azzurro intenso. Ogni stagione regala scenari unici: d’estate si veste di mille sfumature, mentre d’inverno si trasforma in una distesa ghiacciata. In primavera, il verde si fa spazio tra la neve, dando vita a spettacolari contrasti, seguiti da tappeti di fiori che incorniciano la valle. CITTÁ DI BUSTO REFUGE - 2480 m

Piano dei Camosci

The Rifugio Città di Busto, a welcoming stone structure with wood interiors, offers 47 beds in rooms for three, four, and six people, as well as a large dormitory for twelve, with heating, hot water, showers, and a telephone. The refined cuisine and family hospitality make your stay a relaxing and authentic experience.

Thanks to its strategic location, it is ideal for families, hikers, and mountaineers, with trails suitable for everyone: from scenic walks (Piano dei Camosci, Lago dei Sabbioni) to ascents of the surrounding peaks (Blindenhorn, Punta Arbola). The refuge is surrounded by nature rich in alpine fauna, where marmots and foxes can be spotted. For groups and athletes, it also has a soccer and volleyball field, a rarity at these altitudes.

Refuge Formazza

SOMMA LOMBARDO REFUGE - 2561 m

Lago Sabbioni


The Somma Lombardo Refuge, at 2,561 m above sea level, is located on a spectacular natural balcony overlooking Lago Sabbioni, the largest artificial lake in the Ossola Valley. Reachable from Riale or the Morasco Dam with a hike of approximately 2.5 hours and an elevation gain of 850 m, it offers breathtaking views of the glaciers and majestic surrounding peaks, including Ofenhorn (3,235 m), Hohsandhorn (3,182 m), and Corno di Ban (3,028 m).

3A REFUGE - 2710 m

Upper Valley, Sabbioni


Open July and August


The refuge was inaugurated by volunteers of Operation Mato Grosso in 1979. The refuge is a two-story stone masonry structure; it is equipped with running water, indoor restrooms, hot showers, and heating. It has 90 beds, located in small rooms and shared dormitories. In winter, a large winter shelter is available in the attic of the building behind the refuge, accessible via a metal ladder. The shelter has approximately 20 beds with mattresses and blankets.

The shelter is managed by volunteers from Operation Mato Grosso.


Proceeds from its operations are donated to missions in Latin America.

Located near the Strahlgrat-Hohsand Glacier, overlooking Lake Sabbioni in a basin of peaks and snowfields, it is an ideal starting point for mountaineering excursions to the surrounding peaks: Blindenhorn (3,374 m) 2 hours from the refuge, Hohsand (3,182 m) 1.5 hours from the refuge, and Punta d'Arbola (3,235 m) 4 hours from the refuge.

The shelter is managed by volunteers from Operation Mato Grosso.


Proceeds from its operations are donated to missions in Latin America.
